PostSubject: Satellite Systems Past, Present and Potential.   Wed Oct 12, 2011 1:36 pm

Satellite Systems are an extremely useful development that enables a small electronic device to work out it's exact location through sattelite. Once it is aware of its position, the navigation device can buy or calculate navigation material, such as directions, ground, roads, etc, etc.
Satellite navigation devices are being used by the military, auto drivers, boaters, outdoorsmen, or anything else. Many vehicles now consist of Satellite navigation systems pre-installed included.
The only Satellite navigation system that may be fully functional whilst this writing is all the Global Navigation System, and also GPS. GPS is the United State's Satellite Selection System, and contains between 24 to 27 satellites during orbit.
Russia also is known for a Satellite navigation system inside works. The Russian system known as GLONASS, which is derived from GLObal NAvigation Satellite Technique. The first satellites for GLONASS were launched within 1982, but the system has not been fully functional until 1995. Resulting from economic difficulties, the GLONASS strategy has deteriorated to simply 12 satellites, giving not as much as full coverage. Russia has signed a good agreement with India to your workplace on the system together, intending to have GLONASS time for full functionality by 2010.
Europe is currently working on two Satellite navigation systems. EGNOS, which is expected be function sometime during 2006, will consist of 3 sattelites, which are made to supplement GPS and GLONASS.
The EU and European Space Agency are usually working on an advanced Satellite navigation system, labeled Galileo, which should become working by 2010. It will include 30 satellites, and you will be compatible with GPS, which means that ground units can include data from GPS and Galileo so you can get highly accurate positions.
A few more countries also have Satellite satnav systems under construction. China's system known as Beidou, and France's known as Doris. Neither are of your caliber that GPS, GLONASS, and also Galileo are.
